(GLTC) announced today that Charlotte Motor Speedway has added FireIce to its arsenal of fire suppression tools for use by its trackside safety teams. Charlotte Motor Speedway has long been at the forefront when it comes to trackside safety, being the first to institute a number of trackside and driver safety procedures that are now common practice at race tracks across the United States.

"We are very pleased that FireIce was chosen for use at Charlotte Motor Speedway," stated Michael Reger GelTech's president. "Charlotte joins GelTech's growing portfolio of safety conscious organizations that have selected FireIce for its versatility and effectiveness."
FireIce is a dry powder that when hydrated produces an eco-friendly, water-based fire retardant and suppressant that can be used in all types of fire apparatus, including fire extinguishers and first response units. It has the versatility to be used as both a suppressant to extinguish fires and a retardant to protect close-range property and equipment from catching on fire. It has the unique quality of withstanding extremely high temperatures, which uniquely and cost-effectively enables it to be used on traditionally difficult fires to suppress, such as tire fires, magnesium, carbon fiber and fiberglass.
